Getting Started

Contact us using the contact form provided, let us know your name and email address so we can get back to you. If you already have a blog or website set up, give us the address so we can get a better idea of the nature of your business.

In the message section, let us know the full extent of your requirements; the nature of your blog or business, what services you require including design requirements and features you need and any timescales you have: At times we may be fully booked up for that particular month, in this case we will get back to you within 24hrs and let you know if we can fit you in.

Once we have received your design requirements we can get back to you and give you a time schedule and a date we can commence work on. To commence work we will require a 50% deposit of the total design cost.

Design Requirements

If you already have a blog, even if you want a complete redesign we’d obviously like to see it, because our new design will usually have to incorporate any plugins, features and navigation that you had previously incorporated into the new design.

Let us know if there are any features you’d like to add, or remove from your blog too.

Please let us know any preferences of colour, any logo ideas you may have and send us any websites or blogs you really like the look of or inspire you. We will never rip off someone else’s design, but we can always give you something even better!

Starting from scratch

If you do not currently have any website up and running, don’t worry! We can help you with web hosting, purchasing domain names and setting up your blog. We recommend wordpress, but what your website requires to function will determine what blog software or CMS software you will require. If your requirements are completely bespoke and you need Flash animation or design for print and traditional media, our parent company Baltic Design can help.

Creating a New Blog

If you require a new blog, then in addition to telling us about colour, and other design requirements you’ll also have to give us some idea of the structure of your blog. Fortunately CMS like WordPress are very flexible and it is easy to generate the navigation inside your website dynamically. Every time you post an article or create a new page, it can be linked to from a “navigation bar” at the top, bottom or side of your website.

Often however, a design will look better with your main page links as graphics, or incorporated into the actual design of the site. If you can give us an idea of the pages you need, and how they will be organised within the website this will be beneficial to us as we can incorporate this into your design from the start. A change in a site’s navigation bar can sometimes warrant a significant change in design, so working out what links to pages you need will make the whole design process quicker and not lead to any further costs if later amendments turn out to take up significant time.

Blog Design

Unlike traditional web design, blog design is all about the “look” of  your website – we can provide you with standard terms and conditions, a privacy policy, and set up any static pages you require; we will even add content to static pages if you provide it for us. However, the whole point of a CMS or “content management system” is that you can easily add graphics and images to your website quickly and easily, and this is beneficial in a number of ways:

Why you need a blog

You can add new information to your site from any computer around the world as long as it is connected to the internet and has an internet browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox. So you can blog from anywhere: as an affiliate marketer you can work while trotting the globe!

There is no further update costs to your website when you want to add new information, unless it involves a redesign of the site.

Search engines love websites using CMS, especially blog software such as WordPress, as websites that update frequently are often given priority in search listings as they are believed to be dynamic and relevant. Every company should have a blog.

No technical knowledge about web design i.e. html and CSS is needed. If you can operate a word processor you can update your website.

Prices

For a regular Wordpress blog the total cost would be a standard £300 charge. Returning customers, or customers with discount codes will be charged a total of  £270. Logo design may cost extra depending on requirements, as will any amendments outside of our terms and conditions.
